Your kitchen is the heart of your home and so your glass splashback choice is extremely important, as it’s often the standout feature of your newly built or renovated kitchen. Splashbacks are also an increasingly popular addition to bathrooms and laundries.
In this blog, we guide you through your kitchen glass splashback options and give you some ideas to help you select the splashback that’s right for you. We will do this by answering the many questions we have received from our clients on our glass splashbacks.
1. Printed Glass Splashback – a piece of glass that is printed with a design or image and is then installed in your kitchen, bathroom or laundry. It’s a popular way to add a unique and colourful touch to your space. This is our most popular splashback range at In Glass Design.
How do you print a glass splashback?
We print your selected image directly onto your glass and sealed. We do this in-house at our factory here on the Gold Coast by using our state-of-the-art flatbed printer. We are one of the few companies that have this printer.
I want a printed design but where do I start to find the perfect one for me?
We have thousands of images and designs to choose from. Check out our design simulator for inspiration in your kitchen or bathroom by clicking here. If you’re still looking for that perfect image check out our showroom at 2/82 Spencer Rd, Nerang for more inspiration.
Can I print an image I have taken myself on my splashback?
Yes, provided the resolution and quality is high enough, we can use your own image.
I love the image I’ve chosen but want to change it slightly – can I?
In most cases – yes! We can manipulate the colour and positioning of images to suit the area it is to go into.
Who will help me to organise my design?
We have our very own in-house designer with over 20 years of experience in the industry, so you can put your trust in him to guide you to your perfect splashback design. You will have the opportunity to sit down to a Design meeting here at our showroom where we will provide you with colour and design advice and complete your printed splashback layout, all to scale.
What happens once I have approved my print design?
Once we have your approval, your design goes to print! Your splashback project continues through a highly evolved process, which we carry out and control in-house from start to finish.
2. Painted Glass Splashback – a painted glass splashback is a piece of glass that is painted with a specific colour and is then installed in a kitchen, bathroom or laundry to protect the wall. It’s a great way to add a sleek and modern touch to your space.
How do you paint my glass splashback?
We have our very own in-house glass painting team and spray booth facilities where your glass will be prepped and painted at our factory.
What colour options are available?
We have over 60 colour samples that we can bring to your home. Whilst we are taking detailed measurements of your glass splashback, you are able to play around with the colour samples to see which one will suit your space the best. We have both flat and metallic glass paint colours available in our sample range. If you want to add a little extra sparkle to your splashback, we can add this to any flat colour you select. Your options are almost limitless!
What if I don’t know which colour to choose?
Our in-house design team can provide colour advice on-site in your home, or alternatively, you can bring your samples into our showroom prior to building your kitchen. We have over 20 years of design experience and are happy to share our advice and provide guidance on colour choice.
Can you match an existing colour within my home?
This service is what sets us apart from other glass companies. We believe that our colour matcher is the best on the Gold Coast and is able to colour-match almost any sample that you supply.
What type of paint is used to paint my glass splashback?
Specialised glass paint is used on your glass splashback.
What happens once I select my painted glass splashback colour?
Stringent procedures are followed all the way from measure to installation of your painted glass splashback. We have complete control over each step to ensure that you get the very highest quality product installed in your home. Our highly skilled team takes great pride in painting your glass to ensure you absolutely love the finished product.
3. Mirror Splashback – a piece of specialised toughened mirrored glass that is installed in a kitchen, bathroom or laundry. It’s a popular way to add a reflective surface to your space and make it feel larger and brighter.
Are mirror splashbacks able to be installed behind my stove?
Absolutely!! A toughened mirror splashback is a specific product that has been toughened to Australian Standards and is, therefore, able to withstand high temperatures from your cooktop. Don’t be fooled…these are not regular mirrors and a regular bathroom mirror should never be used in a kitchen.
What mirror splashback colour options are available?
Toughened mirror splashbacks come in four different colours to suit any kitchen. The colour options include grey, bronze, black and super clear and all look amazing. If you’re not sure which colour will suit your space, we’d be happy to assist you with your decision.
Why choose a mirror splashback?
A mirror splashback has the ability to make a space feel and appear bigger whilst adding extra light through reflection. Mirror splashbacks are ultra-modern, sleek and timeless.
4. Antique Mirror Splashback – custom-made mirror in either a bronze, silver or grey colour. We have developed a process that makes the mirror appear ‘aged’, however, it’s completely brand new and manufactured in-house at our factory.
Do you have different designs available in the antique mirror range?
We certainly do have an extensive range of different patterns and designs within our antique mirror splashback range. The entire range is available to view in our showroom or on our website and will suit any kitchen.
Which design would look best in my kitchen?
Colour and design is our specialty and we love being able to spend time with our clients and help them to make the right choice. Because we complete every step of the project from design to manufacturing and installation, this allows us to be more time and cost-efficient and bring affordable glass features to your home.
What are the advantages of an antique mirror splashback?
Antique mirrors have been around for hundreds of years and are therefore timeless. They
make a space feel and appear bigger whilst adding extra light through reflection. An antique mirror splashback works well in modern and contemporary kitchens and is a beautiful feature of any kitchen or home.
Can I put my antique mirror splashback near the stove in my kitchen?
You certainly can! Our product is toughened to Australian Standards and therefore perfectly safe to place behind your stove, just as you would with any of our other glass splashbacks.
